Qualitative Characterization of the Pellet Obtained from Hazelnut and Olive Tree Pruning

Biomass occupies a very important place among renewable energy sources, and the residual biomass recovery chain represents sector of fundamental importance. Our work focused on production pellets by pruning residues from two most woody crops in Italy: hazelnut olive groves. We found higher value bulk density for pellet (581.30 kg m−3 vs. 562.38 m−3) length (16.66 mm 10.47 mm). The percentages durability were similar (98%). low heating ash content 17.21 MJ kg−1 3.1%, 16.83 2.5%. A concentration Cu, Pb, Ni was observed hazelnut. contrary Zn. N 0.77% 1.24% olive, respectively. S 0.00% both. quality parameters that do not meet current standards could be improved mixing these materials with different types wood.
